The FBI and Fingerprinting

We passed another hoop!!!  We received our FBI background check clearances in the mail.  We actually had to send our fingerprints to the FBI headquarters this time.  It's kind of weird thinking someone was checking my background out.........actually they probably fell asleep because it was so BORING!!!
So thankful this was passed.

So we are getting our Immigration fingerprints done this Monday.  Hopefully, we will both pass the first time!!  We have to drive 2 1/2 to 3 hrs away to get it done.  This will be the 3rd time we have had our fingerprints taken.  All for different places/different reasons.

And last but not least............

Hopefully, in the next week or so, our Registration Application will go before the committee and we will receive our first travel date.  IT'S GETTING EXCITING FOLKS!!!!  Then we will get to travel and see our little guy for the first time.  We will probably have to travel to his country a total of 3 times and bring him home on the 3rd trip.

When You Give a Wife a Green Light

Nesting:  The strong desire to (insanely) clean,  (obsessively) organize and (perfectly) redo things to get ready for a new child.

I am so nesting right now.  That is why I have been away from blogging so long.  And it's all the dishwasher's fault.  Really...it is!!  Last September, our dishwasher was leaking under our tile floor in our kitchen.  It started cracking so bad that it had to be replaced.  (The guys giving estimates on the floor made comments like, "This is some of the worst cracking I have seen in a loooong time" and "This is dangerous.") Well here is where the nesting comes in..............you know the children's book, When You Give a Mouse a Cookie?!?!

We are going to call our version:
When You Give a Wife a Green Light.

When you give a Wife A Green Light,
She says it is time for a new kitchen floor!!

When the new kitchen floor comes,
She says the old baseboard has got to go.

After the new baseboard is put in,
She decides the entire main floor needs to be repainted.

As the main floor is being repainted,
She decides that all the woodwork needs to be repainted too.

So from now on a Husband who gave his Wife a Green Light,
will think very cautiously before he does such a thing again!!!!!!!!!

Painting the Living Room/Dining Room and all the Woodwork

It has to get Worse before it gets better, Right?!?!

Ups and Downs

The Ups!

Jed and Vicki - THEY ARE COMING HOME!!!  Jed flew home yesterday.  Today, Vicki received word that Nima got her visa!!!!!!!!!  Hopefully Vicki and Nima will be home by this weekend!  Click here to check their blog for updates.

Brian and April - THEY ARE IN ETHIOPIA!!!  They have Addise and Judah and will hopefully also be home within a week!!!  Click here to check for updates on their blog.

Ukraine - The Vote has been delayed even longer.  I heard that even if they do vote on adopting the Hague treaty (which is a good thing) that it would not affect current adoptions now.  That is GREAT news!!  There are many Reece's Rainbow families adopting in Ukraine right now.

The Downs

Our adoption got pushed back a month:( .  Quite disappointed about this.......but this is obviously the norm in most adoptions.  I guess the officials (in our little guys home country) take the month of January off.  January is Christmas for the rest of the world.  So they won't be processing our paperwork until February.  I made sure to ask if this will change our little guys status of whether he gets to stay at the Baby Home or if he will be sent to the institution.  As far we know, it should not change his status. We will probably be making our first visit in March (instead of February).  So we continue to pray for him.

The Penguin Project

Imagine you’re back in high school ready to perform a play. You stand on stage behind a drawn curtain knowing that on the other side over 800 people are eagerly anticipating watching you on opening night. You’ve worked for four months memorizing lines and choreography. Your costume – awesome; the props – fantastic, the set – amazing and soon the curtain will part and the show begins.
While that may bring back memories for some of you – imagine now that you have a disability. It could be Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and the list goes on. What are your odds of getting the lead role or even making the cast? Well for 46 individuals with disabilities their dream of performing is a reality. The Penguin Project is a wonderful program that pairs a child/young adult with a disability with similar peer without a disability as their mentor. Over the 4 months time span as both children work together they gain confidence and camaraderie. Then for 3 shows the play is put on by the children with disabilities as the stars of the show. The sets, costumes, props are as good as described. The audience is there to encourage, cheer and applaud the youth. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. When the curtain closes, both parties leave having touched the other for the better.
